So I saw in your video that you ride a skateboard which is awesome. I'm a 23 yr old lady and I want to learn how, but I need to get a board, where did you find yours, or can you recommend a good type for street skating?
I’m thrilled by this question! I’m no authority on skate etiquette, but I fully support grown lady skaters!
Generally, I let aesthetics guide me to the decks I buy. Just know that the bigger the board, the more space you have for your feet. That can be helpful in the beginning when you’re still finding your balance. There’s the whole “longboards are wrong boards,” mentality in the skate scene, but if you’re not concerned with street cred, they can be easier to ride. Currently, I have longboard wheels and risers attached to a regular deck. It’s the best of both worlds- I can coast over cracks without getting caught up and I don’t have to carry something the size of a surfboard. If your goal is to learn tricks, though, big rubber wheels aren’t the best.
Good luck! Wear kneepads for the first few months if you have to! Whatever you do, don’t mall grab!!!
